A flor da pele felicidade. The Cannes Best Actress award for Emily Beecham was well deserved. The film discusses a genuine possibility as sci-fi in agriculture. A comparable film is Semih Kaplanoglu's "Grain." The soundtrack is awful, though. Good to see Ben Whishaw almost reprising his performance in "Perfume... Everybody can just get along regardless of race or personal believes! Right yeah! Boring and just another attempt by dying organisations.

I don't think that this movie deserved the award for best actress, but it is nonetheless one of the best that premiered at Cannes 2019. But one thing that I really like about the protagonist, is her immense sadness and her inability to let go. Even though the acting may be a little, so to say, minimalist, the character itself is deep and layered in a beautiful manner.
The sterile acting reminds me of how Lanthimos builds his characters in movies such as "The Killing of the Sacred Deer" or of the infinite space of boredom that lies between the characters in Antonioni's "The Night.
The idea of the modified plants is used in an intelligent and minimalist way. I like to see how the perspectives change and evolve during the film, in regards to the benefits or dangers of this plant "Little Joe. The plot it's like a developing state of psychosis; you cannot grasp the truth or the meaning of concepts, you lose your ability to understand what's right or wrong and you're lost in a sea of lies.
The cinematography is another strong point for "Little Joe. Even from the first shot, of the CCTV spinning round the flowers, I knew that this is gonna be a visual feast. The use of mirrors, glass, deep focus and travelling shots is utterly stunning.
I don't get the negative reviews, but each to their own. If you like films such as those directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and Michelangelo Antonioni, with a flair of light sci-fi going on, you're gonna love this one.

There are the parents, 4 daughters, 1 son, the grandfather, and the family maid (hilariously played by Marjorie Main. We watch the Smith family throughout their adventures: the two eldest daughters have romances, and the youngest two go through childhood traditions such as Halloween. But then, the father gets a job in New York, which threatens the family's peaceful existence in St. Louis. Fortunately, everything turns out for the better, and the family heads out to the World's Fair.
One interesting point to this film is that the plot is relatively simple. This allows for multiple opportunities for the family to be developed. This film had multiple problems in its production: multiple scripts with rather silly plot points, and the majority of the cast took sick at one point or another. The fact that this film turned out as well as it did is a miracle, for none of the problems showed up on screen. What makes the film work is the relationship between the family members. Everyone looks like they could have been a real family at one point, thanks to Vincente Minnelli's superb direction. Although all the performances are excellent, the two standouts are the adorable Margaret O'Brien and the one and only Judy Garland. O'Brien naturally steals every scene, and Garland proves why she was (and still is) the beloved performer she is today, with that marvelous voice and expressive face. Another standout to the production is George Folsey's warm Technicolor cinematography, which captures the lushness of the sets and Irene Sharaff's costumes (Minnelli films depend on their visuals. Let's not forget those songs, which make this film the classic it is today ( The Trolley Song" and "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, among others. Quaint and simple fun. HIGHLY recommended. 10/10.

I have heard some complain about how bloody this film is. Well, folks, this is a war movie, plain and simple and war is bloody. The Gulf War was bloody. you just didn't see it. This film is very real as it depicts how horrible war is. William Wallace was a warrior and warriors make people bleed. Enough about that. The film is magnificent. The facts are somewhat stretched and some artistic license is taken, but the film is a more or less accurate description of life in Scotland at that time. Wallace is the national hero of Scotland to this day and his fight to free the Scots from the English yoke is the stuff of legend. This film attempts to capture the essence of that legend. Never mind that there are some film is a work of art. Mel Gibson as Wallace (and director) really shines in this work. Wallace is shown to be a man, one who tried to live quietly and peacefully. However, it was not to be and he and his men ended up fighting the entire English army (and the Scottish Nobles. The battle scenes are indeed bloody (if perhaps a bit too long) and realistic. The story also revolves around the ascention of Robert the Bruce, who eventually became King of Scotland. This is a long and ambitious work and Gibson the actor and director made it work beautifully. The cinematography is truly great, the scenery magnificent and the story undeniably a classic. If you don't own this film, buy it now.

I saw this movie yesterday and much enjoyed it. The acting by the three principles is very good, as almost all the 100 previous viewers agree.
What I found even more interesting than the movie itself, however, was how it has been reviewed on here.
Many of those who liked the movie commended it for exposing a toxic anti-woman culture at FOX News. It doesn't, really. It shows how the head, Roger Ailes, exploited women shamelessly. But other than that, it does not concern itself with other cases of the same thing at FOX, other than to show a man walk by a woman and make inappropriate remarks about her dress.
Some of those who disliked it complained that the movie focused on what went on at FOX but does not deal with similar problems in other, more liberal organizations. It's quite true that it doesn't do that, but it's one 105 minute drama, not a documentary series on PBS. Again, an unfair criticism of this movie.
Others complained that it attacks Trump. It doesn't. Nor does it attack FOX for presenting a conservative slant on the news.
In short, it does not play to the hopes of either liberals or conservatives who hoped it would advance their agenda or attack their opposition.
It presents the cases of two real women, Gretchen Carlson and Megan Kelly, and one fictional character meant to represent other women who worked at FOX, who were sexually harrassed by its head. It does that very well, and in a very sympathetic fashion.
Does it, in the process, present an accurate depiction of those two real women? I can't say. The movie begins by stating very clearly that things have been changed to develop the drama. That, to me, exonerates it from having to be a spot-on, perfectly accurate depiction of all the facts and nothing but the facts.
If you want to know all those facts, undramatised, read some books. That's why historians write such books.
If you want an hour and three quarters of well-paced drama and fine acting, I strongly recommend this movie.

I did not watch the original ones from the 1900rds but I love this version from 2005!
The whole story starts big, which a giant plastic monster and introduced Rose and the doctor. With time you get to know each of them better and better, then bad Wolf comes and everything changes. The doctor "dies. he changes his appearance.
I think that the 10th doctor (it counts the docs from the 1900rds too) is one of the best.
Anyway with the new doctor he experiences a lot of new adventures together with Rose. Then Bad Wolf comes and Rose needs to leave.
I think that this major stylistic device is curtail for "Doctor who. By this you know that not everything is constant and that in each episode the companion of the doctor may die/ disappear etc. permanently.
Every time the doctor gets a new form all of him changes. He gets a new look and personality. The basics are the same like he safes everyone and he constantly fights against evil.
One of the best things is that not everything is as it seem the good guy at the beginning can turn out to be the bad guy at the end.
Anyways, all in all I give this 100/ 10 stars :D.
