After graduation, she aspires to work in the agency's Behavioral Science Unit under the leadership of Jack Crawford (Scott Glenn). While she is still a trainee, Crawford asks her to question Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Sir Anthony Hopkins), a psychiatrist imprisoned, thus far, for eight years in maximum security isolation for being a serial killer who cannibalized his victims. Clarice is able to figure out the assignment is to pick Lecter's brains to help them solve another serial murder case, that of someone coined by the media as "Buffalo Bill" (Ted Levine), who has so far killed five victims, all located in the eastern U.S., all young women, who are slightly overweight (especially around the hips), all who were drowned in natural bodies of water, and all who were stripped of large swaths of skin. She also figures that Crawford chose her, as a woman, to be able to trigger some emotional response from Lecter. After speaking to Lecter for the first time, she realizes that everything with him will be a psychological game, with her often having to read between the very cryptic lines he provides. She has to decide how much she will play along, as his request in return for talking to him is to expose herself emotionally to him. The case takes a more dire turn when a sixth victim is discovered, this one from who they are able to retrieve a key piece of evidence, if Lecter is being forthright as to its meaning. A potential seventh victim is high profile Catherine Martin (Brooke Smith), the daughter of Senator Ruth Martin (Diane Baker), which places greater scrutiny on the case as they search for a hopefully still alive Catherine. Who may factor into what happens is Dr. Frederick Chilton (Anthony Heald), the warden at the prison, an opportunist who sees the higher profile with Catherine, meaning a higher profile for himself if he can insert himself successfully into the proceedings

Wow. I still get chills while watching this film. Takes a lot to desensitize yourself to the incredible and iconic portrayal of Hannibal Lector. Great job. The Silence of The Lambs has many things going for it: superb acting, cinematography, music, direction, and a tension-filled script, but I really have a problem in that it indirectly glorifies a serial killer. Hannibal Lecter has practically become a cultural icon, which I think speaks ill for the direction our society has taken, when a cannibalistic monster has the brains and the guts we admire (no pun intended.

Very well directed with a heavy and ominous tone that shadows the entire movie. The sound and editing all function in creating and maintaining the film's eerie atmosphere. Reviewing this film, how could one not mention Anthony Hopkins chilling and creepy performance as Dr. Hannibal Lecter. He portrays, without a doubt, one of the best psychotic characters in cinema history. He's so good that at one point, you may start to, dare I say, root for him? The chemistry between Hopkins and Jodie Foster's character is brilliant and the dialogue between them is masterfully crafted. Once you let Hannibal into your mind, you can never get him out. After watching The Silence of the Lambs, I don't think I can ever forget it. Are you up for the challenge.

And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see! War is madness regardless of the reasons to start it ! The problem is that the warmongering powers want to start another one! Do NOT let it happen. it will destroy us all. "Come and See" is a very memorable movie for me. I can't help but picture the scenes that I'll never forget over and over again. It has so many elements that makes this movie as strong as it is. The message I got from this movie is the realities of war are not what is shown in "Hollywood" movies. This movie sheds the light on the truths of war so creatively that as a viewer, you can't help but feel like you are there with Florya, enduring all that he endures. Florya starts out so naive and innocent to the horrors of war, like most recruits of the military are. His face of sublime happiness when the soldiers come to take him to the camp set up in the woods is frightening. He only sees the glory and fame that war can offer while his mother, who is sobbing uncontrollably, knows what could happen to him as well as to her self and her twin daughters. This moment touched me because I have a little brother who will have to enlist soon but thankful he is not blind to the truth of war. I couldn't promise that I wouldn't sob like Florya's mother if my brother had to go war. Florya then meets Glasha, a beautiful woman who seems to be the lover or perhaps ex-lover of Koshach, the commander of the soldiers. Glasha is a pivotal character for Florya because she seems to represent all woman for Florya. Florya's humanity is also seen when he cares and builds a shelter for Glasha. Glasha eventually becomes all that Florya must protect because he loses his mother and twin sisters. The scene where the audience discovers the death of Florya's family is so heartbreaking and I found myself silently hoping and praying that maybe his mother and twin sisters are on that island in the middle of the bog. I knew deep down that there was no chance that they survived but I couldn't bring myself to abandon hope. This film definitely made me feel for the characters and that is what makes it so intense, at least for me. These characters could be people today. Glasha is a girl who wants to be loved but is rejected by the man she wants. Florya is a boy trying to prove he's a man by using combat. This film is very realistic and I think it is amazing that the director used actual bombs and gunfire for authenticity. "Come and See" does a great job of showing the audience what war is really like and I believe that is important because so many people are disillusioned by movies that glamorize war when the truth is there is no real victory in war. I like how this film starts Florya out in a sort of peaceful camp site where the soldiers of the partisan are gathered then the audience is thrusted into real warfare, shown by the used of real bombs dropped near the Florya and Glasha when an air attack begins. The scenes that were most brutal for me were the barn-burning scene, and the girl rape at the end. Even though the actress who played Glasha isn't the actress who played the girl who was raped at the end, I couldn't help but connect the two. although Glasha's fate is never revealed in the film, she probably ended up just like that girl at the end because she was pretty and couldn't fight back an army of Nazis by herself. In conclusion I definitely recommend this film but be forewarned that it's not exactly easy to watch.

Difficult and brutal movie but highly recommended. The genocide perpetrated on the citizens of this region is almost secondary to the rape of the region itself. Despite his disillusionment with humanity, Florya (Kravchenko) emerges from his experiences vowing to survive no matter what comes -- and in so doing, personifies a resilience and dignity. Belova Production company Mosfilm Belarusfilm Distributed by Sovexportfilm Release date July 1985 ( Moscow) Running time 142 minutes [1] Country Soviet Union [2] Language Belarusian Russian German Come and See ( Russian: Иди и смотри, Idi i smotri; Belarusian: Ідзі і глядзі, Idzi i hlyadzi) is a 1985 Belarusian film directed by Elem Klimov filmed in the Soviet Union, with a screenplay written by Klimov and Ales Adamovich based on the 1978 book I Am from the Fiery Village [3] (original title: Я из огненной деревни, [4] Ya iz ognennoj Derevni, 1977) by Adamovich et al.. [5] The film stars Aleksei Kravchenko and Olga Mironova. [6] Come and See is generally viewed as one of the most important anti-war movies ever made, and one of the great World War II movies, with the most historically accurate depictions of the crimes on the Eastern Front. The film focuses upon the Nazi German occupation of Belarus, and primarily upon the events witnessed by a young Belarusian partisan teenager named Flyora, who—against his parents' wishes—joins the Belarusian resistance movement, and thereafter depicts the Nazi atrocities and human suffering inflicted upon the Eastern European villages' populace. The film mixes hyper-realism with an underlying surrealism, and philosophical existentialism with poetical, psychological, political and apocalyptic themes. Come and See had to fight eight years of censorship from the Soviet authorities before the film was finally allowed to be produced in its entirety to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Soviet victory in World War II, and was a major box-office hit, with 28, 900, 000 admissions in the Soviet Union alone. The film was selected as the Soviet entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 58th Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee. [7] Title [ edit] The original Belarusian title of the film derives from Chapter 6 of The Apocalypse of John, where in the first, third, fifth, and seventh verse is written "ідзі і глядзі" [8] (English: "Come and see", Greek: Ἐρχου καὶ ἴδε, Erchou kai ide) [9] as an invitation to look upon the destruction caused by the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. [10] [11] Chapter 6, verses 7–8 have been cited as being particularly relevant to the film: And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see! And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth. Plot [ edit] In 1943, two Byelorussian boys dig in a sand-filled trench looking for abandoned rifles in order to join the Soviet partisan forces. Their village elder warns them not to dig up the weapons as it will arouse the suspicions of the Germans. One of the boys, Flyora, finds an SVT-40 rifle, though the both of them are seen by an Fw 189 flying overhead. The next day, partisans arrive at Flyora's house to conscript him. Flyora becomes a low-rank militiaman and is ordered to perform menial tasks. When the partisans are ready to move on, an old partisan says that he wants to stay behind because his boots are falling apart. The partisan commander, Kosach, orders the old man to swap boots with Flyora and for Flyora to remain behind at the camp. Bitterly disappointed, Flyora walks into the forest weeping and meets Glasha, a young girl working as a nurse in the camp, and the two bond before the camp is suddenly attacked by German paratroopers and dive bombers. Flyora is partially deafened from explosions before the two hide in the forest to avoid the German soldiers. Flyora and Glasha travel to his village, only to find his home deserted and covered in flies. Denying that his family is dead, Flyora believes that they are hiding on a nearby island across a bog. As they run from the village in the direction of the bogland, Glasha glances across her shoulder, seeing a pile of executed villagers' bodies stacked behind a house, but does not alert Flyora. The two become hysterical after wading through the bog, where Glasha then screams at Flyora that his family are actually dead in the village. They are soon met by Roubej, a partisan fighter, who takes them to a large group of villagers who have fled the Germans. Flyora sees the village elder, badly burnt by the Germans, who tells him that he witnessed his family's execution and that he should not have dug up the rifles. Flyora accepts that his family is dead and blames himself for the tragedy. Roubej takes Flyora and two other men to find food at a nearby warehouse, only to find it being guarded by German troops. During their retreat, the group unknowingly wanders through a minefield resulting in the deaths of the two companions. That evening Roubej and Flyora sneak up to an occupied village and manage to steal a cow from a collaborating farmer. However, as they escape across an open field, Roubej and the cow are shot and killed by a German machine gun. The next morning, Flyora attempts to steal a horse and cart but the owner catches him and instead of doing him harm, he helps hide Flyora's identity when SS troops approach. Flyora is taken to the village of Perekhody, where they hurriedly discuss a fake identity for him, while the SS unit (based on the Dirlewanger Brigade) accompanied by Ukrainian collaborators surround and occupy the village. Flyora tries to warn the townsfolk they are being herded to their deaths, but is forced to join them inside a church. Flyora and a young woman bearing a strong resemblance to Glasha manage to escape; the young woman is dragged by her hair across the ground and into a truck to be gang raped, while Flyora is forced to watch as grenades are thrown into the church before it is set ablaze and shot. A German officer points a gun to Flyora's head to pose for a picture before leaving him to slump to the ground as the soldiers leave. Flyora later wanders out of the scorched village in the direction of the Germans, where he discovers they had been ambushed by the partisans. After recovering his jacket and rifle, Flyora comes across the young woman who had also escaped the church in a fugue state and covered in blood after having been gang-raped and brutalized. Flyora returns to the village and finds that his fellow partisans have captured eleven of the Germans and their collaborators, including the commander, an SS-Sturmbannführer. While some of the captured men including the commander plead for their lives and deflect blame, a young fanatical officer bluntly tells the captors that their people have no right to exist and they will carry out their mission. Kosach then forces most of the collaborators to douse the Germans with a can of petrol but the disgusted crowd shoots them all before they can be set on fire. As the partisans leave, Flyora notices a framed portrait of Adolf Hitler in a puddle and proceeds to shoot it numerous times. As he does so, a montage of clips from Hitler's life play in reverse, but when Hitler is shown as a baby on his mother 's lap, Flyora stops shooting and cries. “ We are obliged to exterminate the population—this is part of our mission to protect the German population. I have the right to destroy millions of people of a lower race who breed like worms. ” —  Adolf Hitler, 1941 [12] In the final scene, a partisan officer calls out to a low-ranking recruit. Flyora turns, but an obedient youth nearby rushes past him, and Flyora realizes he is now a full partisan. He then catches up and blends in with his comrades, marching through the woods as snow blankets the ground. As they disappear into the birch forest, a title informs: "628 Belorussian villages were destroyed, along with all their inhabitants. " [13] Cast [ edit] Aleksey Kravchenko as Flyora Olga Mironova as Glasha/Glafira Liubomiras Laucevičius as Kosach (voiced by Valeriy Kravchenko) Vladas Bagdonas as Roubej Jüri Lumiste as young German officer Evgeniy Tilicheev as Ukrainian collaborator and translator Viktor Lorents as the German commander Production and release [ edit] Klimov co-wrote the screenplay with Ales Adamovich, who fought with the Belarusian partisans as a teenager. According to the director's recollections, work on the film began in 1977: The 40th anniversary of the Great Victory was approaching. [3] [14] [15] The management had to be given something topical. I had been reading and rereading the book I Am from the Fiery Village, which consisted of the first-hand accounts of people who miraculously survived the horrors of the fascist genocide in Belorussia. Many of them were still alive then, and Belorussians managed to record some of their memories onto film. I will never forget the face and eyes of one peasant, and his quiet recollection about how his whole village had been herded into a church, and how just before they were about to be burned, an officer gave them the offer: "Whoever has no children can leave". And he couldn't take it, he left, and left behind his wife and little kids... or about how another village was burned: the adults were all herded into a barn, but the children were left behind. And later, the drunk men surrounded them with sheepdogs and let the dogs tear the children to pieces. And then I thought: the world doesn't know about Khatyn! They know about Katyn, about the massacre of the Polish officers there. But they don't know about Belorussia. Even though more than 600 villages were burned there! And I decided to make a film about this tragedy. I perfectly understood that the film would end up a harsh one. I decided that the central role of the village lad Flyora would not be played by a professional actor, who upon immersion into a difficult role could have protected himself psychologically with his accumulated acting experience, technique and skill. I wanted to find a simple boy fourteen years of age. We had to prepare him for the most difficult experiences, then capture them on film. And at the same time, we had to protect him from the stresses so that he wasn't left in the loony bin after filming was over, but was returned to his mother alive and healthy. Fortunately, with Aleksey Kravchenko, who played Flyora and who later became a good actor, everything went smoothly. I understood that this would be a very brutal film and that it was unlikely that people would be able to watch it. I told this to my screenplay coauthor, the writer Ales Adamovich. But he replied: "Let them not watch it, then. This is something we must leave after us. As evidence of war, and as a plea for peace. " —  Elem Klimov Come and See was shot only on Belarusian soil. The events with the people, the peasants, actually happened as shown in the film. [It] doesn't have any professional actors. Even the language spoken in the film is Belarusian. What was important was that all the events depicted in the film really did happen in Belarus. [17] For eight years, [14] filming could not begin because the State Committee for Cinematography (Goskino) would not accept the screenplay, considering it too realistic, calling it propaganda for the "aesthetics of dirtiness" and "naturalism". [16] Eventually in 1984, Klimov was able to start filming without having compromised to any censorship at all. The only change became the name of the film itself, which was changed to Come and See from the original title, Kill Hitler [18] (Elem Klimov also says this in the 2006 UK DVD release). [19] The film was shot in chronological order over a period of nine months. [18] Aleksey Kravchenko said that he underwent "the most debilitating fatigue and hunger. I kept a most severe diet, and after the filming was over I returned to school not only thin, but grey-haired. " [20] [18] To prepare the 13-year-old Kravchenko for the role, Klimov called a hypnotist. " I realized I had to inject him with content which he did not possess, Mr. Klimov said. This is an age when a boy does not know what true hatred is, what true love is. In the end, Mr. Kravchenko was able to concentrate so intensely that it seemed as if he had hypnotized himself for the role. " [21] [18] To create the maximum sense of immediacy, realism, hyperrealism, and surrealism operate in equal measure. [22] Klimov and his cameraman Rodionov employed naturalistic colours, widescreen and lots of Steadicam shots; the film is full of extreme close-ups of faces, does not flinch from the unpleasant details of burnt flesh and bloodied corpses, and the guns were often loaded with live ammunition as opposed to blanks. [3] [18] [23] [24] Aleksey Kravchenko mentioned in interviews that bullets sometimes passed just 4 inches (10 centimeters) above his head [18] (such as in the cow scene). [3] At the same time "the mise-en-scène is fragmentary and disjointed: there are discontinuities between shots as characters appear in close up and then disappear off camera. " "Klimov employs a range of techniques that draws attention to the camera. The extreme close-ups of actors staring into camera is a recurring motif. " "Elsewhere... the moment of revelation is marked by a disorienting zoom-in/dolly-out shot". [3] The film was released on 17 October 1985, [6] drawing 28. 9 million viewers [18] [25] and ranking sixth at the box office of 1986. [25] In 2017, the film received an official restoration which won the Venice classics award for Best restored film, and was also shown in several European independent cinemas again. [26] [27] [28] In the United States, Kino Lorber released the film on DVD in 2001. It is currently out-of-print. As of September 2019, the film became available on the streaming service for the Criterion Collection, the Criterion Channel. On December 18, 2019, Janus Films released a trailer for an upcoming 2k-restoration that’s expected to premiere in February of 2020 with a theatrical run and then, possibly, a restored home media release through Criterion. [29] [30] [31] Music [ edit] The original soundtrack is rhythmically amorphous music composed by Oleg Yanchenko. At a few key points in the film classical music from mainly German or Austrian composers are used, such as Johann Strauss Jr. 's Blue Danube, sometimes mixed in with Yanchenko's music. The Soviet marching song The Sacred War, Russian folk song Korobeiniki and German folk song Im Wald im grünen Walde are played in the movie once. The German military march "Old Comrades " is played as the German army begins its attack on the village. During the scene where Glasha dances, the background music is taken from Grigori Aleksandrov 's 1936 film Circus. At the end, during the montage, music by Richard Wagner is used, most notably the Tannhäuser Overture and the Ride from Die Walküre. At the conclusion of the film the Lacrimosa from Mozart 's Requiem is played. Themes [ edit] It has often been noted how the film mixes a ruthless "hyper-realistic" take on the Holocaust during Operation Barbarossa, while at the same time hinting an underlying surrealist atmosphere without being "unreal". [32] [33] [34] [35] [36] [37] The image of Hitler shown in the film as a baby sitting on the maternal knees has no historical foundation. It is a photomontage devised by Klimov between this picture of infant Hitler and that of his mother A Focke-Wulf Fw 189, the aircraft that Klimov makes fly high above the protagonists' head The film mixes themes about philosophical existentialism, spiritual degradation, the human mind, etc, under Nazi carnage, extreme trauma, and also the politics behind the Nazi-German warfare, —with often poetic, classical apocalyptic themes, influences and "twilight state-like" or nightmarish, psychological dialogues. [38] [39] [40] [41] [42] [43] The film has been praised for how it shows one of human history's worst crimes with an honest and genuine take, rather than the more common, sentimental "Hollywood take" on the subject. The film's settings is often in vast, deep Belorussian forests and swamps. The nature (with both the hostility and fear and the peacefulness and beauty that can be found in it) plays a big role in the movie's symbolism and atmosphere. Politically it deals with the people's suffering under the Nazi invasion, and the essence and depth of the people's (both collective and individual) trauma, and also honoring the defense of the Slavic nations by partisans. As an anti-fascist and anti-war movie it brings up the ideological driving-forces behind the war on (and Holocaust in) Eastern Europe; i. e the Nazis' racial ideological hatred for so-called " Judeo-Bolshevism " as one of the main motives behind their genocides against Jews and Slavs. Come and See has been praised for the way it shows the Nazis on the Eastern Front as genocidal as they historically documented were, and for how it brings out the genuine sense of terror that people in reality felt with the mere presence of those forces. It shows their systematic calculated killings and their discretionary sadism. Klimov is said to make the viewer understand, and sense, what Fascism brought, in a metaphor of a "black plague", in similar style to the partisan song "The Sacred War" and it's lyrics' description of it (i. e "the fascist hordes' black wings" and similar writings), which is also featured in the film. The movie is generally viewed as one of the most important anti-war movies ever made, one of the great movies in history and one with the most historically accurate depictions of the crimes on the Eastern Front, and in general one of the most important Holocaust movies. [44] [45] [46] [47] [48] [49] Reception [ edit] Initial reception was positive. Walter Goodman wrote for The New York Times that "The history is harrowing and the presentation is graphic... Powerful material, powerfully rendered... ", and dismissed the ending as "a dose of instant inspirationalism, " but conceded to Klimov's "unquestionable talent. " [50] Rita Kempley of the Washington Post wrote that "directing with an angry eloquence, [Klimov] taps into that hallucinatory nether world of blood and mud and escalating madness that Francis Ford Coppola found in Apocalypse Now. And though he draws a surprisingly vivid performance from his inexperienced teen lead, Klimov's prowess is his visual poetry, muscular and animistic, like compatriot Andrei Konchalovsky 's in his epic Siberiade. " [51] Mark Le Fanu wrote in Sight & Sound 03/01/1987 that Come and See is a "powerful war film... The director has elicited an excellent performance from his central actor Kravchenko". [52] [53] [54] [55] [56] [57] According to Klimov, the film was so shocking for audiences, however, that ambulances were sometimes called in to take away particularly impressionable viewers, both in the Soviet Union and abroad. [14] [19] Also according to Klimov, during one of the after-the-film discussions, an elderly German stood up and said: "I was a soldier of the Wehrmacht; moreover, an officer of the Wehrmacht. I traveled through all of Poland and Belarus, finally reaching Ukraine. I will testify: everything that is told in this film is the truth. And the most frightening and shameful thing for me is that this film will be seen by my children and grandchildren". [58] The film has since been widely acclaimed in the 21st century. In 2001, Daneet Steffens of Entertainment Weekly wrote that "Klimov alternates the horrors of war with occasional fairy tale-like images; together they imbue the film with an unapologetically disturbing quality that persists long after the credits roll. " [59] In 2001, J. Hoberman of The Village Voice reviewed Come and See, writing the following: "Directed for baroque intensity, Come and See is a robust art film with aspirations to the visionary – not so much graphic as leisurely literal-minded in its representation of mass murder. (The movie has been compared both to Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan, and it would not be surprising to learn that Steven Spielberg had screened it before making either of these. ) The film's central atrocity is a barbaric circus of blaring music and barking dogs in which a squadron of drunken German soldiers round up and parade the peasants to their fiery doom... The bit of actual death-camp corpse footage that Klimov uses is doubly disturbing in that it retrospectively diminishes the care with which he orchestrates the town's destruction. For the most part, he prefers to show the Gorgon as reflected in Perseus 's shield. There are few images more indelible than the sight of young Alexei Kravchenko's fear-petrified expression. " [60] In the same publication in 2009, Elliott Stein described Come and See as "a startling mixture of lyrical poeticism and expressionist nightmare. " [61] In 2002, Scott Tobias of The A. V. Club wrote that Klimov's "impressions are unforgettable: the screaming cacophony of a bombing run broken up by the faint sound of a Mozart fugue, a dark, arid field suddenly lit up by eerily beautiful orange flares, German troops appearing like ghosts out of the heavy morning fog. A product of the glasnost era, Come and See is far from a patriotic memorial of Russia's hard-won victory. Instead, it's a chilling reminder of that victory's terrible costs. " [62] British magazine The Word wrote that " Come and See is widely regarded as the finest war film ever made, though possibly not by Great Escape fans. " [63] Tim Lott wrote in 2009 that the film "makes Apocalypse Now look lightweight". [64] In 2006, Geoffrey Macnab of Sight & Sound opined, "Klimov's astonishing war movie combines intense lyricism with the kind of violent bloodletting that would make even Sam Peckinpah pause. " [3] [ failed verification] On 16 June 2010, Roger Ebert posted a review of Come and See as part of his "Great Movies" series, describing it as "one of the most devastating films ever about anything, and in it, the survivors must envy the dead... The film depicts brutality and is occasionally very realistic, but there's an overlay of muted nightmarish exaggeration... I must not describe the famous sequence at the end. It must unfold as a surprise for you. It pretends to roll back history. You will see how. It is unutterably depressing, because history can never undo itself, and is with us forever. " [65] Come and See appears on many lists of films considered the best. In 2008, Come and See was placed at number 60 on Empire magazine's "The 500 Greatest Movies of All Time" in 2008. [66] It also made Channel 4's list of 50 Films to See Before You Die [67] and was ranked number 24 in Empire magazine's "The 100 Best Films Of World Cinema" in 2010. [68] Phil de Semlyen of Empire has described the work as "Elim Klimov’s seriously influential, deeply unsettling Belarusian opus. No film – not Apocalypse Now, not Full Metal Jacket – spells out the dehumanising impact of conflict more vividly, or ferociously... An impressionist masterpiece and possibly the worst date movie ever. " [69] It ranked 154 among critics, and 30 among directors, in the 2012 Sight & Sound polls of the greatest films ever made. [70] Rotten Tomatoes reported a 96% approval critic response based on 23 reviews. [6] Klimov did not make any more films after Come and See, [71] leading some critics to speculate as to why. In 2001, Klimov said "I lost interest in making films... Everything that was possible I felt I had already done. Kelly's - ODDBALL - Heroes, OBVIOUSLY. The movie itself has quite direct allusions to the Hell. The fascist plane appearances all throughout the movie make me think of the angel of death. The fascists are portrayed like some demonic creatures (remember that commander with lemur on his shoulder.

The script is not very well done. Some of the acting are too cheesy. The best part of the movie is the main casts are gorgeous. Vou assistir com certeza, 😍😍😍😍🤩. Me gustaría que Maite Perroni y William Levy grabaran una película juntos ya que no están por hacer novelas🤪🤪🤪.

Love this autiful editing. En Brazos De Un Asesino Movie - video dailymotion. Es un actor buenísimo. Y mejor persona gracias por existir wuiliam ❤️. 😚😚🎬👅.

William es grande y se merece todo lo que hoy en dia le tenga muchos exitos mas y que dios lo bendiga. You simply must see this great Mexican gangster story with an attractive, compelling cast that kept me in my seat throughout this action movie on Friday Dec 6. Leading Lady Alicia "The Body" Sanz is so wonderfully at home in the altogether (both in the shower and while being strip-searched for a tracking device) that her scenes could exist separately and still be a box office hit. 8 out of 10 for the movie. 10 out of 10 for Miss Sanz. Highly Recommended.

Where can I watch this movie online

Como se llama el hijo de william levy esta guapisimo😍😘😘😙😚 creo q va a superar al padre💘❤💘💟💙💓💚. In as actually wanted to see the movie because I'm a big William Levy fan and a romance sucker. So I loved the idea of the storyline. It being in Spanish made it that much more awesome. William and Alicia played great chemistry between their characters even not long after they met each other in character you can see the chemistry "Victor" and "Sarai" gave off each other without words. And I felt the action was there in the movie. I'm hoping they continue the book series into movies. K bonita ya la quiero ver De william levy. William levy, he os latino or espain. Maite, não confirme o caso, porque é uma pena ter um relacionamento com William.

The fort rises above the 200-foot (60 m) hilltop, along with Morro Castle. History [ edit] La Cabaña. Havana Cuba. As it appears in 2020 After the capture of Havana by British forces in 1762, an exchange was soon made to return Havana to the Spanish, the controlling colonial power of Cuba, in exchange for Florida. A key factor in the British capture of Havana turned out to be the overland vulnerability of El Morro. This realization and the fear of further attacks following British colonial conquests in the Seven Years War prompted the Spanish to build a new fortress to improve the overland defense of Havana; King Carlos III of Spain began the construction of La Cabaña in 1763. Replacing earlier and less extensive fortifications next to the 16th-century El Morro fortress, La Cabaña was the second-largest colonial military installation in the New World by the time it was completed in 1774 (after the St. Felipe de Barajas fortification at Cartagena, Colombia), at great expense to Spain. Over the next two hundred years the fortress served as a base for both Spain and later independent Cuba – La Cabaña has been used as a prison by the government of Fidel Castro and his younger brother Raúl. 1959 [ edit] In January 1959, the revolutionary group led by Fidel Castro seized La Cabaña; the defending Cuban Army unit offered no resistance and surrendered. Che Guevara used the fortress as a headquarters and military prison for several months. During his five-month tenure in that post (January 2 through June 12, 1959), Guevara oversaw the revolutionary tribunals and executions of people who had opposed the communist revolution, including former members of Buró de Represión de Actividades Comunistas, Batista's secret police. [1] There were 176 executions by Che Guevara documented for La Cabaña Fortress prison during Che’s command (January 3 to November 26, 1959). [2] La Cabaña, land reform, and literacy [ edit] The first major political crisis arose over what to do with the captured Batista officials who had perpetrated the worst of the repression. [3] During the rebellion against Batista's dictatorship, the general command of the rebel army, led by Fidel Castro, introduced into the territories under its control the 19th-century penal law commonly known as the Ley de la Sierra (Law of the Sierra). [4] This law included the death penalty for serious crimes, whether perpetrated by the Batista regime or by supporters of the revolution. In 1959 the revolutionary government extended its application to the whole of the republic and to those it considered war criminals, captured and tried after the revolution. According to the Cuban Ministry of Justice, this latter extension was supported by the majority of the population, and followed the same procedure as those in the Nuremberg trials held by the Allies after World War II. [5] Guevara in his trademark olive-green military fatigues and beret Revolutionary justice [ edit] To implement a portion of this plan, Castro named Guevara commander of the La Cabaña Fortress prison, for a five-month tenure (2 January through 12 June 1959). [6] Guevara was charged by the new government with purging the Batista army and consolidating victory by exacting "revolutionary justice" against those regarded as traitors, chivatos (informants) or war criminals. [7] As commander of La Cabaña, Guevara reviewed the appeals of those convicted during the revolutionary tribunal process. [8] Tribunals [ edit] The tribunals were conducted by 2–3 army officers, an assessor, and a respected local citizen. [9] On some occasions the penalty delivered by the tribunal was death by firing-squad. [10] Raúl Gómez Treto, senior legal advisor to the Cuban Ministry of Justice, has argued that the death penalty was justified in order to prevent citizens themselves from taking justice into their own hands, as had happened twenty years earlier in the anti-Machado rebellion. [11] Biographers note that in January 1959 the Cuban public was in a "lynching mood", [12] and point to a survey at the time showing 93% public approval for the tribunal process. [8] Moreover, a 22 January 1959, Universal Newsreel broadcast in the United States and narrated by Ed Herlihy featured Fidel Castro asking an estimated one million Cubans whether they approved of the executions, and being met with a roaring " ¡Si! " (yes). [13] With as many as 20, 000 Cubans estimated to have been killed at the hands of Batista's collaborators, [14] [15] [16] [17] and many of the accused war criminals sentenced to death accused of torture and physical atrocities, [8] the newly-empowered government carried out executions, punctuated by cries from the crowds of "¡al paredón! " ([to the] wall! ), [3] which biographer Jorge Castañeda describes as "without respect for due process ". [18] I have yet to find a single credible source pointing to a case where Che executed "an innocent". Those persons executed by Guevara or on his orders were condemned for the usual crimes punishable by death at times of war or in its aftermath: desertion, treason or crimes such as rape, torture or murder. I should add that my research spanned five years, and included anti-Castro Cubans among the Cuban-American exile community in Miami and elsewhere. — Jon Lee Anderson, author of Che Guevara: A Revolutionary Life, PBS forum [19] Executions [ edit] Although accounts vary, it is estimated that several hundred people were executed nationwide during this time, with Guevara's jurisdictional death total at La Cabaña ranging from 55 to 105. [20] Conflicting views exist of Guevara's attitude towards the executions at La Cabaña. Some exiled opposition biographers report that he relished the rituals of the firing squad, and organized them with gusto, while others relate that Guevara pardoned as many prisoners as he could. [18] All sides acknowledge that Guevara had become a "hardened" man who had no qualms about the death penalty or about summary and collective trials. [2] If the only way to "defend the revolution was to execute its enemies, he would not be swayed by humanitarian or political arguments". [18] In a 5 February 1959, letter to Luis Paredes López in Buenos Aires Guevara states unequivocally: "The executions by firing squads are not only a necessity for the people of Cuba, but also an imposition of the people. " [21] Land redistribution [ edit] Along with ensuring "revolutionary justice", the other key early platform of Guevara was establishing agrarian land reform. Almost immediately after the success of the revolution, on 27 January 1959, Guevara made one of his most significant speeches where he talked about "the social ideas of the rebel army". During this speech he declared that the main concern of the new Cuban government was "the social justice that land redistribution brings about". [22] A few months later, n 17 May 1959, the Agrarian Reform Law, crafted by Guevara, went into effect, limiting the size of all farms to 1, 000 acres (400 ha). Any holdings over these limits were expropriated by the government and either redistributed to peasants in 67-acre (270, 000 m 2) parcels or held as state-run communes. [23] The law also stipulated that foreigners could not own Cuban sugar-plantations. [24] On 12 June 1959, Castro sent Guevara out on a three-month tour of 14 mostly Bandung Pact countries (Morocco, Sudan, Egypt, Syria, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Burma, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, Yugoslavia, Greece) and the cities of Singapore and Hong Kong. [25] Sending Guevara away from Havana allowed Castro to appear to distance himself from Guevara and his Marxist sympathies, which troubled both the United States and some of the members of Castro's 26 July Movement. [26] While in Jakarta, Guevara visited Indonesian president Sukarno to discuss the recent revolution of 1945-1949 in Indonesia and to establish trade relations between their two countries. The two men quickly bonded, as Sukarno was attracted to Guevara's energy and his relaxed informal approach; moreover they shared revolutionary leftist aspirations against western imperialism. [27] Guevara next spent 12 days in Japan (15–27 July), participating in negotiations aimed at expanding Cuba's trade relations with that country. During the visit he refused to visit and lay a wreath at Japan's Tomb of the Unknown Soldier commemorating soldiers lost during World War II, remarking that the Japanese "imperialists" had "killed millions of Asians". [28] Instead, Guevara stated that he would visit Hiroshima, where the American military had detonated an atom-bomb 14 years earlier. [28] Despite his denunciation of Imperial Japan, Guevara considered President Truman a "macabre clown" for the bombings, [29] and after visiting Hiroshima and its Peace Memorial Museum he sent back a postcard to Cuba stating, "In order to fight better for peace, one must look at Hiroshima. " [30] Upon Guevara's return to Cuba in September 1959, it became evident that Castro now had more political power. The government had begun land seizures in accordance with the agrarian reform law, but was hedging on compensation offers to landowners, instead offering low-interest "bonds", a step which put the United States on alert. At this point the affected wealthy cattlemen of Camagüey mounted a campaign against the land redistributions and enlisted the newly-disaffected rebel leader Huber Matos, who along with the anti-Communist wing of 26 July Movement, joined them in denouncing "Communist encroachment". [31] During this time Dominican dictator Rafael Trujillo was offering assistance to the " Anti-Communist Legion of the Caribbean " which was training in the Dominican Republic. This multi-national force, composed mostly of Spaniards and Cubans, but also of Croatians, Germans, Greeks, and right-wing mercenaries, was plotting to topple Castro's new regime. [31] Guevara in 1960, walking through the streets of Havana with his wife Aleida March (right) La Coubre [ edit] Such threats were heightened when, on 4 March 1960, two massive explosions ripped through the French freighter La Coubre, which was carrying Belgian munitions from the port of Antwerp, and was docked in Havana Harbor. The blasts killed at least 76 people and injured several hundred, with Guevara personally providing first aid to some of the victims. Fidel Castro immediately accused the CIA of "an act of terrorism" and held a state funeral the following day for the victims of the blast. [32] At the memorial service Alberto Korda took the famous photograph of Guevara, now known as Guerrillero Heroico. [33] INRA [ edit] Perceived threats prompted Castro to eliminate more " counter-revolutionaries " and to utilize Guevara to drastically increase the speed of land reform. To implement this plan, a new government agency, the National Institute of Agrarian Reform (INRA), was established by the Cuban Government to administer the new Agrarian Reform law. INRA quickly became the most important governing body in the nation, with Guevara serving as its head in his capacity as minister of industries. [24] [ need quotation to verify] Under Guevara's command, INRA established its own 100, 000-person militia, used first to help the government seize control of the expropriated land and supervise its distribution, and later to set up cooperative farms. The land confiscated included 480, 000 acres (190, 000 ha) owned by United States corporations. [24] Months later, in retaliation, US President Dwight D. Eisenhower sharply reduced United States imports of Cuban sugar (Cuba's main cash crop), which led Guevara on 10 July 1960 to address over 100, 000 workers in front of the Presidential Palace at a rally to denounce the "economic aggression" of the United States. [34] Time Magazine reporters who met with Guevara around this time described him as "guid(ing) Cuba with icy calculation, vast competence, high intelligence, and a perceptive sense of humor. " [35] Guevara was like a father to me... he educated me. He taught me to think. He taught me the most beautiful thing which is to be human. —Urbano (a. k. a. Leonardo Tamayo), fought with Guevara in Cuba and Bolivia [36] Literacy [ edit] Along with land reform, Guevara stressed the need for national improvement in literacy. Before 1959 the official literacy rate for Cuba was between 60–76%, with educational access in rural areas and a lack of instructors the main determining factors. [37] As a result, the Cuban government at Guevara's behest dubbed 1961 the "year of education" and mobilized over 100, 000 volunteers into "literacy brigades", who were then sent out into the countryside to construct schools, train new educators, and teach the predominantly illiterate guajiros (peasants) to read and write. [38] [37] Unlike many of Guevara's later economic initiatives, this campaign was "a remarkable success". By the completion of the Cuban Literacy Campaign, 707, 212 adults had been taught to read and write, raising the national literacy rate to 96%. [37] Accompanying literacy, Guevara was also concerned with establishing universal access to higher education. To accomplish this the new regime introduced affirmative action to the universities. While announcing this new commitment, Guevara told the gathered faculty and students at the University of Las Villas that the days when education was "a privilege of the white middle class" had ended. "The University" he said, "must paint itself black, mulatto, worker, and peasant. " If it did not, he warned, the people were going to break down its doors "and paint the University the colors they like. " [39] Notes [ edit] References [ edit] ^ Anderson, Jon Lee. Anderson (1997) gives the number specifically at La Cabaña prison as 55 (p. 387. ), while also stating that "several hundred people were officially tried and executed across Cuba" as a whole (p. 387). ( Castañeda 1998) notes that historians differ on the total number killed, with different studies placing it as anywhere from 200 to 700 nationwide (p. 143), although he notes that "after a certain date most of the executions occurred outside of Che's jurisdiction" (p. 143). These numbers are supported by the opposition-based Free Society Project / Cuba Archive, which gives the figure as 144 executions ordered by Guevara across Cuba in three years (1957–1959) and 105 "victims" specifically at La Cabaña, which according to them were all "carried out without due process of law". Of further note, much of the discrepancy in the estimates between 55 versus 105 executed at La Cabaña revolves around whether to include instances where Guevara had denied an appeal and signed off on a death warrant, but where the sentence was carried out while he traveled overseas from 4 June to 8 September, or after he relinquished his command of the fortress on 12 June 1959. ^ Anderson 1997, p. 375. ^ Kellner 1989, p. 54. ^ Kellner 1989, p. 57. ^ a b c Kellner 1989, p. 58. ^ Taibo 1999, pp. 282–285. ^ Anderson 1997, p. 423. ^ Ramadhian Fadillah (13 June 2012). I attended the east coast premiere of "The Lodge" a few weeks ago and can say it will most likely be 2020's most polarizing and divisive horror release.
If you've seen Franz & Fiala's last film, Goodnight Mommy, you'll have an idea of what to expect in terms of tone and themes. The cinematography is breathtaking, and Riley Keough's performance is unbelievable. Like "Mommy" the central characters are two siblings who are up against some sort of unknown/unstable maternal presence while existing in isolation. Instead of a vast, lonely European farm, The Lodge" features exactly what the title suggests. a mountain lodge in the middle of nowhere. It's so well done that you can almost feel the icy frost in the theater as the film progresses.
Franz & Fiala take a lot of cues from Ari Aster, ESPECIALLY "Midsommar, in depicting sudden tragedy and brutal, existential grief that consistently drips off the screen. Additionally, there are underlying themes of mental illness and psychosis that are done really well and tactfully. although I might add it may not seem so at first. Sorry if that's cryptic, I just don't want to give any spoilers. The ending will knock you on your ass. I couldn't move after the screening, I was frozen for half the credit roll, and couldn't stop thinking about it for days.
I highly recommend "The Lodge" for fans of Aster's work, or if you liked "Goodnight Mommy" and want more of the same slow-burn insanity.

We have a screwed up daughter. She has no friends because she's getting picked on a lot, has no confidence because she's getting picked on a lot, AND, most of all, she dresses like a high school girl so I pick on her alot! God, what is wrong with her. The lodge free stream news. Hereditary called, it wants its' trailer back. Hi aj lov The lodge 😃. Still Listening To The Lodge. 2018 almost 2019. still listening to them because, don't know why just like listening to them.

Fun fact: that woman is Elvis Presleys granddaughter 😃. TFW You cant watch the show because you arent in the UK 😭. Great vlog guys great to see all the movie locations 👌.

Anna and the Apocalypse was amazing

Its slightly strange watching the end of the cruise before youre back in port in Florida, knowing that in real time youve already traveled to LA, spent a week there, and come back to Florida. Anyway, the day on the private island looked like fun. When I see the costume characters, I cant help but think how hot it must be inside one of those things in the Caribbean sun! The animation restaurant was really imaginative, whatever the food itself mightve been like. It must feel surreal, talking to an animated character on a screen and having them answer back. With this everything has begun 💕 Such a wonderful series 😩😍.

MulÃn.s. Why Mulan sticks out as a great Disney film. 5/10 I was impressed by this Disney film for so many reasons, too many to list here, but I will go on the record as saying that Mulan has got to be one of the best Disney female characters that ever saw production, in the midst of a colorful and artistic film, that will resonate in your memory. Mulan sticks out in my mind for this reason. For once, we have a strong female lead, or at the least, stronger than most of them. She isn't counted among the Disney "princesses" line-up. She doesn't want for herself, and she seeks to look deeper within herself to discover her inner being. She isn't like Ariel, who wants to be someone else. She isn't like Jasmine, who sits in luxury, waiting to be swept off her feet by Prince Charming, just like Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and almost any female character that Disney brings to life. And while she does share some traits among this list, she stands out because she does something that these do not. She uses her mind. Mulan, in fact, has more in common with male Disney leads than the female Disney leads. Mulan is a thinker, and a do-er. She's resourceful, like Aladdin. She is quick to act, like Eric (mermaid. ) And she sacrifices herself for the sake of others, like Hercules. She also speaks her mind, even in a culture that does not allow such a thing. She doesn't waste time pining about "will I ever find true love? " Indeed, we see that she has an attraction to Shang (as he was her husband in the legends, ) but we see her uncomfortable and unsure of meeting the Match-maker. She begs for her father's life when Chi-Fu came to the village. When you see her make her decision to take her father's place in the army, she does so out of her love for him, valuing his life above hers. She doesn't wish to become a man to see what it is like or for a change. Only to save his life. She later doubts herself and her reasons for going, but she did so because of her inner strengths, something other female Disney leads too often lack. (And it is these strengths that Shang is attracted to at the end. ) This movie also has a simple, but very effective villain, Shan Yu. Though not as memorable as Jafar or Ursula, he is more effective and more menacing because he is not fantastic. By that, I mean that he is not magical, he holds no special power. He is portrayed as a man, and as a man that could have truly existed, performing vicious acts that men do. We see the destruction that his army lays to a village, and when Mulan finds the doll, it shows that Shan Yu left no one living, man, woman or child. This is what makes him so effective as a villain, showing how truly human he indeed is. Granted, the producers did not develop him in any great depth, but they showed enough of him to remind us of his threat to China. Besides, sometimes the better villains are the ones you don't know too much about, or see a lot of. Of the rest of the supporting cast, I will only mention four of them as being memorable in any real way. Chi-Fu, the emperor's consultant, was a reminder of the way many men looked at women in this culture. He thrusts his head up when Mulan begs for her father's life, and when she is discovered to be a woman, though she is a hero, he is quick to insult her, and to order her execution, simply because she impersonated a man. The other three were, of course, her comrades, Ling, Yao, and Chian Po. Though they were mainly comic relief (almost like a 3 stooges set, ) they remained loyal to Mulan and trusted her fully, even after she was discovered. I like them, because they were not discriminatory to her in any way, even trying to stop her execution. When Mulan told them she had an idea to help the emperor faster, they were the first to her side, even when Shang was still reluctant to do so. Overall, a wonderful movie to the Disney list. If you haven't seen it, then do so, you won't regret it. And yes, Mushu was a cool character as well. **** In Response to an earlier post by Phoenix-1 **** To expect any movie to accurately portray history in any way is lunacy. Even those movies that come close to historical accuracy are flawed in many ways. This was a way of telling a story, as any movie is. It can be argued that it tries to provoke curiosity in another culture, but it is also meant to entertain. I would also like to point out that Mulan is really not "historical, " like Joan of Arc, but rather she is a legend, much like Hercules and Aladdin, who also come from the realm of myth, stories and legends. And while there is some difference between the original legend and this movie, your examples of how Disney would butcher tales of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln do not compare to this story in any way.
